PTP Promotes Specialized Medical Care for Children in the Country’s Interior

•    The José Domingo de Obaldía Maternal and Child Hospital now has a portable pediatric bronchoscope

•    The hospital serves a population of approximately 300,000 patients from Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, and surrounding and border areas.

Petroterminal de Panamá S.A. donated a portable pediatric bronchoscope to the José Domingo de Obaldía Maternal and Child Hospital, a referral center for specialized pediatric care in the western region of the country.

The equipment, valued at B/.8,500.00, will strengthen endoscopic examination and diagnostic processes for pediatric respiratory diseases, expanding the hospital’s clinical capacity to serve patients from Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, as well as nearby and border areas. Its indirect impact is estimated to reach approximately 300,000 people. The José Domingo de Obaldía Hospital plays a strategic role within the public health network, particularly in maternal and child care and in the management of highly complex pediatric cases. The incorporation of this type of technology helps improve access to specialized diagnostics and strengthens the medical response in the country’s interior.
