Petroterminal de Panamá S.A. has a storage capacity of 14.6 million barrels of hydrocarbons and derivatives in its Atlantic and Pacific Terminals.

Both terminals can perform in line or in tanks blending. They can also carry out simultaneous operations, ship-buoys / ship-docks / dock-dock, tank-to-tank and pipeline pumping.

Atlantic Terminal

Located on the Atlantic Coast of the Republic of Panama, specifically in “La Laguna de Chiriquí” located in the province of Bocas del Toro. It is designed for the storage and transshipment of crude oil to oil tankers, in a safe and efficient way, in compliance with environmental regulations.

This terminal has the capacity to receive oil tankers of up to 320 thousand deadweight tons (DWT), through two buoys (North and South), types SBM (Single Buoy Mooring) and CALM (Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring), located at 1.5 nautical miles from the coast.

The North Buoy has two mooring buoys (MBM) for super tankers VLCC type. An oil tanker moored to one of these buoys can both load and unload product from ships to tanks onshore or vice versa through two 36-inch diameter subsea pipelines.

Storage facilities:

This Terminal has two tank farms, with a total storage capacity for crude oil and other petroleum products that exceeds 7 million barrels.

The tank farms are connected by a network of pipes to the pumping stations that allow the transfer of products to and from the buoys, between tanks and to the transisthmian pipeline.

Pacific Terminal

Located on the Pacific Coast of the Republic of Panama, west of Charco Azul Bay and east of the Burica Peninsula, approximately 3.5 miles south of the community of Puerto Armuelles, Chiriquí province. This terminal consists of two docks designed for loading / unloading of crude oil and petroleum derivatives.

  • Dock No. 1, has four loading arms for loading and unloading operations, can receive super tankers (VLCC) from 28 thousand to 320 thousand dead weight tons (DWT) with a maximum draft of 74 feet and a maximum length 1100 feet. The maximum loading rate for the products is approximately 48 thousand barrels per hour; discharges are 100 thousand barrels per hour.
  • Dock No. 2, has three loading arms for loading and unloading operations, it can receive  oil tankers from 28 thousand to 320 thousand dead weight tons (DWT) with a maximum draft of 74 feet. The maximum loading rate for the products is approximately 45 thousand barrels per hour; discharges are 75 thousand barrels per hour.

The Pacific Terminal has a dock that has a Diesel dispatch facility for smaller draft vessels . General cargo handling can also be carried out in modalities such as pallets or packages and the supply of provisions to fishing or tuna vessels.

The terminal also has a Pressure Regulating Station and Pumping Stations for internal operations.

Storage facilities:

This Terminal has two tank farms, with a total storage capacity for crude oil and other petroleum products that exceeds 7.5 million barrels.

The tank farms are connected by a network of pipes connected to the Terminal Pumping Station that allows the transfer of products to the loading docks, direct reception from the docks, tank-to-tank and the reception of crude from the trans-isthmian pipeline

General Cargo Dock

Features:

Located in the Chiriquí Lagoon, Bocas del Toro Province, on the Atlantic Coast of the Republic of Panama. The dock is 600 feet long by 80 feet wide, with 12,000 square feet of roofing and a concrete deck capable of handling stacked or containerized loads. It has the capacity to handle bulk, crude and derivatives such as Diesel, gasoline and alcohol.

Allows ships up to 36 feet of draft. The terminal is accessible from a point located between the Valiente Peninsula and Cayo de Agua through the Canal del Tigre. The approximate controlling depth in the channel is over 100 feet, and it is marked with lightweight buoys and a beacon as a navigation aid

Storage facilities:

The dock has an area of 5.7 hectares (14 acres) available to store containers.
