PTP Expands Play and Recreation Areas for Children in the Provinces of Bocas del Toro and Chiriquí.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes the right of children to rest, leisure, play, and recreational activities—opportunities that also promote their development and social interaction. With this approach in mind, Petroterminal de Panamá (PTP) implements “Spaces to Grow,” a program designed to help ensure that communities near its operations have suitable areas for recreation and family gatherings.

Through this program, PTP has supported the communities of Pueblo Nuevo, Cañazas, and Caldera, addressing the specific needs of each area. In Pueblo Nuevo, a new playground and recreational area were built and equipped, while in Cañazas, improvements were made to the existing playground. Both projects represent an investment of B/.40,000.00 and benefit more than 3,000 people.

In Caldera, as part of this effort, a new playground was built, complete with four double benches and a recycling bin, with an additional investment of B/.6,420.00.

Taken together, these initiatives represent an investment of B/.46,420.00 aimed at creating and improving spaces for play, physical activity, recreation, and social interaction for children and families.

Beyond infrastructure, “spaces to grow” represents a way to support communities in creating environments that promote children’s well-being and development, tailoring PTP’s support to the needs of each community.
