PETROTERMINAL DE PANAMÁ, S.A. ACTS AS A LOGISTICS CORRIDOR BENEFITING NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES

The protests in Panama, due to their magnitude, limited the flow and access to food and supplies necessary for the quality of life of many communities. Among those particularly affected were communities near the Petroterminal de Panamá, S.A. operation.

Determined to support the communities neighboring Chiriquí Grande and Charco Azul, Petroterminal de Panamá, S.A. offered logistical support to load and unload food and supplies so that they could reach their residents.

At the Atlantic Terminal, Petroterminal provided support in the docking of the ship L-402 General Esteban Huertas of the Aeronaval with the Rambala tug. The vessel was carrying fuel, supplies for area hospitals and for IDAAN.

Containers with refrigerated, frozen, and dry goods from the Port of Balboa were unloaded at the Pacific Terminal dock. Also, 13,000 gallons of diesel and 9,500 gallons of gasoline were unloaded. The operation lasted approximately 67 hours and 46 minutes, during which time Petroterminal provided equipment such as forklifts and trained personnel to ensure a safe and successful operation.

“We are proud to be able to offer support to the communities near our terminals and ensure their well-being during the difficult situation in the country,” commented Miguel Rios, Administration and Finance Chief Officer. “With our two terminals on both oceans, we benefit in two ways with the logistics corridor.”
