New recreational spaces strengthen children’s and community life in Chiriqui Grande.

Recreation and participation in cultural life are essential elements for the physical, emotional, and social development of children, and a key component of their overall well-being. With this in mind, Petroterminal de Panamá, S.A. (PTP) promoted the construction of playgrounds in the communities of Quebrada El Bajo and Los Chiricanos in Chiriqui Grande, Bocas del Toro Province. The project directly benefits more than 1,500 people, including children, families, and caregivers from both communities.

The initiative represented an investment of B/.47,250.00, which funded the construction of spaces designed to promote play, family bonding, and the positive use of public areas in communities that previously lacked recreational infrastructure for children. These improvements include playground equipment, concrete benches, grassy recreational areas, pedestrian walkways, and solar lighting.

The availability of these new spaces helps create safer and more protective environments for children, strengthens community cohesion, and encourages healthy social interaction—fundamental elements for building stronger and more united communities.

This initiative is part of the Community Development pillar within Petroterminal’s Social Responsibility strategy, which prioritizes strengthening the social fabric and improving the quality of life in the communities where the company operates through projects that respond to real community needs.
